I got an automated call today on our home phone saying my mom's bank account would be charged over $200 for something unless they got a call cancelling the service.Porn magazins 11th October 2022. My mom has dementia so, I was worried she ordered something not knowing what she was doing. When I called, they said it was for PC protection & started giving me instructions for how to cancel the service. One was AnyDesk, the other was TeamViewer. Then I saw them take command of my computer & click all sorts of things. Finally a box came up and they wanted me to enter a debit card. Well, that sounded fishy because if my mom ordered something, they should already have the debit card. Also, they said the email address I gave them was wrong. Well, mom doesn't have an email address so, there's no way she ever gave them one. After that I hung up & uninstalled the apps and threw away the app folders in my programs directories. I also went to AppData files & threw away everything there that related to the two programs. Then I ran Malwarebytes & SuperAntiSpyware. Malwarebytes found nothing & SuperAntiSpyware just found a bunch of tracking cookies that I deleted. Still, I'm left afraid that they may have a back door open into my computer and either could or already have downloaded malware. Whatever they did also messed up my slide show on my desktop. Is there any way to check and make sure they didn't leave anything malicious on my computer and shut any back doors they may have access to now?Īnd reinstall after you run the attached Fixlist - that should fix your sidebar)įreeFileViewer (This is known Potentially Unwanted Program and is flagged by FRST)Īppears you installed Wireshark, USBPcap & WinPcap days prior to TeamViewer and AnyDesk so I assume you know what they do but if you are not using them I would uninstall.
